I have to take a different approach to this blogging thing!
This blogging this is new to me and I am not into today's social media sharing thing.
I have not posted anything in weeks. That is not because I have not been busy researching and learning about our family's history. It is because I have been trying to put what I have found into a neat package with some kind of conclusions. That is the way that I had to do things in the business world, that is the way I am used to presenting my research to others.
But this is not business, and it is supposed to be fun!
So I need to share what I find more quickly, which may mean things maybe incomplete or messy. But maybe that will be alright. We'll try it and see what happens.
What lead me to this?
Let me tell you what has been going on for the past few weeks that has lead me to this revelation.
I was trying to piece together where and when our ancestors lived in Louisville. City directories are a great source of information about where people lived and sometimes where they worked. I created a short posting about City Directories on my Genealogy - General Topics blog with more details about what can be found in these directories.
As I dug into the Louisville city directories, I kept coming up with more questions than answers. Nothing with our family was straight forward at all. This would lead me to looking for more and more clues, digging deeper and deeper, yet not really able to make any conclusions.
Now I have a boatload of information, but I really don't know what it means or how to present it. I have been struggling with how to put a narrative around it. But maybe I don't need to. Maybe I should just share what I found you guys and let you help me make sense of it all (if we can).
So that is what I am going to do. Post the information that I find and the questions that it raises. Let's see where it goes from there. I hope that will make me more productive and give you more interesting stories.
Thanks for reading,
Dwayne
